Acknowledging our Support

Thank you to these wonderful organizations!

THe Central Coast Chorale

Twenty years ago, a group of friends decided they would like to sing together. They hired Dr. Mary Lee Scoville as their director and embarked on a path that would lead to the current fifty-voiced choir, singing a challenging and eclectic repertoire. They draw singers from up and down the central coast of Oregon. Their home is in Newport but they perform regularly as far south as Yachats and north to Lincoln City. They have collaborated with the Newport Symphony and joined with choirs from Eugene and Salem for gala concerts.

Part of the Chorale's stated mission is to encourage music education in the central coast area. That mission is currently taking life with Voices at the Coast. Concerned about musical opportunities for young people in the area, board member Bob White became convinced that a music camp at the coast would be a great way to get teens excited about singing. Following popular trends, the idea of making the camp focus on close harmony, a cappella style singing gained strength. In the winter of 2017, the CCC began seriously raising money to make their dream a reality and with the support of the coastal community and a grant from the Lincoln County Cultural Coalition they were able to hire the Caffarellas as directors and secure the Newport campus of the Oregon Coast Community College as a home.  Their hope is that Voices at the Coast will now take on a life of its own and become another strong cultural institution on the beautiful Oregon coast.

For now, Voices at the Coast is part of the financial structure--including 501(c)(3) non-profit status--of the Central Coast Chorale. All fundraising is handled through the Chorale and all expenses are their responsibility.

Lincoln County Cultural Coalition

Voices at the Coast, through the Central Coast Chorale, received a generous grant from the Lincoln County Cultural Coalition. We are very grateful for their support.

"The Lincoln County Cultural Coalition envisions a vibrant cultural life for all citizens. It shall engage citizens from all parts of the county to create and celebrate a dream of lifelong cultural experiences for all.  The Coalition receives funds – from the Oregon Cultural Trust, which the coalition then distributes to Lincoln County applicants.  With a $200 million endowment, the Oregon Cultural Trust will secure sustainable funding for Oregon culture in perpetuity. Together, 21,000 Oregonians have raised $25 million for culture, created more than $9 million in grants that benefit every county in Oregon and built the endowment to nearly $15.5 million."
